Thesis Title: 3D modelling of the hip from clinical imaging data

Supervisor: Dr Graham Treece

Background

I finished training in Clinical Radiology with musculoskeletal subspecialty training at Addenbrooke's Hospital in December 2011. My radiology training also included time at the Norwich Radiology Academy and in Nottingham at the Queen's Medical Centre and Nottingham City Hospital. In 2011-12, I worked with the Bone Research Group in the Department of Medicine at the University of Cambridge as the Evelyn Trust Clinical Research Fellow, during which I submitted for an MPhil in Medical Sciences working in a collaboration between the University Departments of Medicine, Engineering and Radiology. I started a Wellcome Trust funded PhD Fellowship for Clinicians in October 2012, joining the Medical Imaging Group to take up my project on 3D modelling of the hip joint from clinical imaging data. I am also a medical writer, having been an author and advisor on the Oxford University Press Medical Handbook Series, sat on the Royal Society of Medicine Trainees Committee, fellow of the British Association of Clinical Anatomists and editor of the Faculty of Medical Leadership and Management Bookclub.

Research Interests

My professional and research interests include quantitative 3D medical image analysis, clinical imaging of degenerative musculoskeletal disease (such as osteoarthritis and osteoporosis), and the use of imaging in human anatomy education for medical students and healthcare professionals.
